On Saturday the guys woke up at 2:30, watched the sun rise from the top of Haleakala, then biked to the bottom.
We were so busy we only made it into the pool twice.
This!
Afternoon walk
We got in the habit of eating dinner somewhere on Front Street then walking down to the banyan tree to let B run like a crazy man.
Surfing!
The Road to Hana: 52 miles, 59 bridges (most one lane), 620 curves. I did it without throwing up, but the last few miles I had a plastic bag in hand, just in case.
It rained so much at the start of our drive I almost told J to turn around. Rocks were falling off the mountain side and we couldn't see very much. It was not the Road to Hana experience I expected.
Can you see us through the rain?
It cleared up enough for us to check out a black sand beach. Someone (read me) was not paying attention. B and I ended up in the ocean.
Cave exploration
4 mile hike in Haleakala State Park, just past Hana
Bamboo forest
Two miles in, we reached our destination
Headed back to the car. A little tired.
Painted eucalyptus on the drive home
B was so good on the trip he is doing every naughty, boundary pushing thing he can think of today. He just found a crayon the ground and is headed for the front window. Best go. More pictures soon!
